SeaSide Seafood

Sorry, I was so greedy! I took both pictures "After" I took a bite out of the food. My bestie, cousin and I went out for a late lunch today and they both reminded me to take the photos before I ate. Shame I was that greedy!
Today we went to SeaSide Seafood Restaurant. Its located in Downtown Birmingham at the corner of Merrill Street. Its a small quaint place with a large bar and nice outside seating. However, today it was 90 degrees and very sunny, so we ate inside. As usual great company, conversation and a beautiful day :-).
I had (my fav) crab cakes as an appetizer and whitefish stuffed with lobster along with asparagus and red skin potatoes as my entree. Delicious!

Happy Father's Day

Well we all needed to take time out for Father's Day yesterday and these are a few pictures from mine. I took the hubby out to dinner last night. We tried a new (to us) restuarant and were delighted. Its called No. VI Chop House. My hubby loves steaks so I try to find a different chop house to take him to every now and then. My thing is seafood really, but yesterday was about him, not me.

I hope you all enjoyed your Father's Day yesterday, even if it was spent with your mother's. Single/widowed mothers have also become the "Father's".  So whomever you celebrated for being there for you yesterday, I hope it was enjoyable!

I know some are really more interested in "Nail" postings, sorry for the detour. Back to our regularly scheduled program :-)

How You Like These Cakes

My cousin and I went out for an early dinner yesterday after work and we dined at 220. Its located in Downtown Birmingham (MI). We sat outside and people watched and had great conversation. I was so caught-up in convo and laughter that I forgot to take more pics. So sad because it was a beautiful sunny day! The restaurant is one of my fav's and I go often, so I promise to update with more pictures in a future post. In the meantime, please enjoy the view of my appetizer crab cakes. They were delicious!

Whatcha Cooking Baby...

I did a little cooking today. Shame that I over-cooked the salmon, but it was still delicious. I made a shrimp scampi angel hair pasta, broiled salmon and steamed veggies. Yummy

1917 American Bistro

If you're looking for a new place to w dine then I found a spot for you.
1917 American Bistro is a great place to meet for lunch and they offer a nice variety of tasty dishes sure to please. Its refreshing, airy, lovely window seating perfect for people watching and showcases modern decor and artwork. The menu consists of Crab Cakes, Lamb Chops, NY Strip Steak, Catfish, Salmon, Salads and desserts. Another plus about this new eatery thats been open about seven months, is the Free WiFi.
It seems as though I wasn't the only one interested in this little diamond. I overheard four people stating that today was there first time dining with them. As there meals arrived and were devoured, I overheard that everything was delicious. I myself had the Crab Cakes as my appetizer and followed that with a fresh Chicken Caesar Salad. I must admit, I was impressed, as everything was very fresh and tasty.

While there, I noticed people coming in and out picking up carry-out orders. So this place is busy. The music played over the speakers was soft R&B and Jazz, featuring hits by Micheal Jackson, Aretha Franklin and Ashford & Simpson, just to name a few.

In closing, I'd advise everyone to try out the Bistro. It's a lovely addition to the make-over of the Livernois Avenue of Fashion. Parking is available on the street or the adjacent parking lot. However, the only downfall about this place is the long wait for someone to take your order and the additional (long) wait for your food and another long wait to receive your bill. The waitstaff is a little slow and that may come from inexperience. They all were young and this may have been their first "serving" job. But with a little more time I'm sure they'll become more timely. So if you're on your lunch break, make sure its extended.

Blackened Salmon Salad w/Apples

I've decided to eat healthy so this is my attempt at it. I love salad's & fish so incorporating them together just seemed right! I added the apples so that I can say that I had my share of fruit for the day.
The meal was delicious and very filling. Can't wait to see what I think up for tomorrow.
Are you eating healthy? What are some of your favorite dishes?
