French

Have you guys ever tried  a "colored" polish french? A french does not have to be white tips, you can use any color you like. As long as the polish remains at the bottom of the nail and a half moon shape. It also is a great option for those polishes that you "kind of" like, but not really. Give it a try!

The term we use in the nail polishing world or MUA/NB is called funky french. I prefer the funky french the the pink/white one. It is lovely as can be.

Hey, I bought some paints and felt like hoarding all the colors. lol! I'm bad. Also bought some stripper brushes. Might have to trim them down so my lines can be thin. Now just have to keep practicing to make nice clean lines. Do you use the very tip of the brush to get your clean lines?

@JenB-Thank you

@rm-What's mua & nb? (*putting on my thinking hat*).

Great, can't wait to see your nail art :-). Yes, I only use the tip of the brush. To make it not so messy I dip my brush into the nail art paint cap. After I apply the nail paint to the nail, I then dip the brush into a little soapy water, pat dry (paper towel), then dip again. I dont like for my paints to harden on my brush.

I do make colored french tip manicures. They are very popular around here. It's usually with a bright or dark color that seems too much when I have it on the whole nail. When I only do the tip in it, I get to enjoy the color but not be overwhelmed by it. Great for neon colors on my nails. (But my colored french tips are plain not amazing like yours!) -JenB

@JenB:
Exactly!! Using neon polish or those "overwhelming" polishes just on the tip will make wearing them so much nicer. I don't always design them though. I like just the half tip look, by itself.
*Another option is to just underling the half nail with one color of nail art paint. That looks really, really nice! I'll see if I can do one this week ;-)

That'd be great, I'd like to see what you mean. My free nail tips are 1-2 mm long, so my french tips are a wiped-brush-width line (that wavers, tee hee)! -JenB

I'm sorry "mua" is makeupally and "nb" is nailboard. website is makeupalley.com There are several boards I always on the nailboard. I learned so much on this board about nail polish and taking care of natural nails. I was excited when I learned of a topcoat that keeps nailpolish from chipping on natural nails "Seche Vite" Alot of nail polish bloggers came from the nailboard. You should check it out and join. My name I use is rmcandlelight. Look me up and checkout my profile. My pictures have gotten better since blogging. ok enough of me ranting. lol!

How darling! Your nail art is beautiful.
I have done French mani with other colors. I've also done it with a chevron shape rather than the smile line.

@ JenB- O, thata not a problem (the length). I design on short nails also, but I dont do as many lines because it looks to gaudy or like I'm trying to hard.

@rm- Yes, I will look that up. You know I'm still new at this and learning more and more everyday. Thanks so much for the info.

@Kimberly- Thank you :-). O, cool the chevron shape is cute too. I've gotta go into my design hat and show you ladies some ole competition stuff! Everyone is making me push harder-for more!! Inspiration, Inspiration!!
